What is She all about?

Shemoves is the brain-child of two fiery sagittarians, Britt Bailey-Kerber and Kelly Bannister.

Back in 2003 (long before pole dancing was even thought of as fitness concept!), Britt was wanting to shape-up after her second baby and decided to re-learn the art of pole dance to help shift the extra kilos.

Britt, a professional dancer had danced all over the world. When she was in the USA 15 years earlier, she had first encountered Pole Dancing. She straight away recognised it’s fitness potential.

Ah, what a difference time makes! Reacquainting herself with some of her original routines, Britt surprised herself with how different she began to feel (physically but also mentally) once she danced. A pole was quickly put up on Britt’s back patio!

Observing her friend, Kelly became extremely intrigued and genuinely amazed at the transformation as Britt’s post baby kilos vanished and her killer curves returned. Always having had a penchant for the workings of things on the inside, Kelly was particularly interested in Britt’s comments on how she was feeling more confident, even empowered once more. Both Britt and Kelly realised there must be something to this and if they enjoyed and benefited from it, then surely other

women might also. A pole was quickly put up on Kelly’s back patio and … by now you are getting the idea!

From a tiny 8 pole studio in a very old building in Leederville (in Perth, Western Australia), the first pole fitness classes in Australia ran in 2004.

Years later and with studios now located across Western Australia and the Northern Territory, Shemoves has now grown to 8 studios in 4 locations. Britt and Kelly still have their original poles on their patios and still get a huge kick out of hearing snippets of conversations in the studios about how much weight someone has lost or how much they fun the had at one of the Shemoves classes.

And lastly - just in case you had any doubts about what pole dancing can bring - Britt has gone on to take pole dancing into mainstream competitive fitness, and has an impressive list of achievements. Britt holds numerous fitness titles and is the current Asia - Pacific Women's Fitness Champion 2008, 2009 and the Southern Hemisphere Miss Fitness Champion 2007. Britt is also the Health and Fitness Editor for Woman Magazine and lectures at the Australian Institute of Fitness.

Both Kelly and Britt bring their wealth of experience in both performing and teaching to their roles on the Australian advisory board of the International Pole Federation.
